GENERAL SUMMARY:

The Education Coordinator for the Family Child Care Home Education Network (FCCHEN) Program is responsible for coaching, training, mentoring, and monitoring Network Contract Family Child Care Providers and Education Specialists across multiple counties. This role ensures the implementation of best practices in early childhood education while adhering to Federal and State regulations.

The coordinator supports and plans high-quality educational services that enhance child and family engagement, support school readiness,and promote positive outcomes. They also facilitate professional development opportunities for providers to meet the program's educational objectives. This position is fully on-site, requiring a consistent presence at the main office and routine visits to assigned sites, with driving and travel necessary to fulfill job responsibilities. Remote or hybrid work arrangements are not an option for this position.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Program Oversight & Compliance

  • Ensure Family Child Care Providers’ files are complete and compliant with all program regulations.
  • Monitor and analyze child/family outcomes, school readiness, and educational services data, preparing relevant reports.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of child development standards, licensing regulations (CDSS), and funding requirements.
  • Implement and monitor Child Assessments (DRDP), FCCERS, the Individualization process, and curriculum documentation.
  • Assist in collecting and reporting data to meet program performance and state-required outcomes.

Coaching, Training & Development

  • Provide ongoing coaching,mentoring, and training to Family Child Care Providers, focusing on:
    1. Responsive care giving and effective teaching strategies
    2. Creating organized learning environments that promote healthy child development
    3. Implementing curriculum and supporting children with special needs & dual language learners
  • Design and facilitate professional development sessions to enhance providers’ early childhood education and care skills.
  • Coordinate ongoing training opportunities with program staff to support continuous improvement.
  • Attend conferences, workshops, and training sessions as needed to stay current with best practices.

Family & Community Engagement

  • Collaborate with Family Specialists to implement Parent, Family, and Community Engagement (PFCE) plans.
  • Assist in encouraging family involvement in program activities, governance, and advocacy.
  • Organize and lead parenting workshops that strengthen families’ roles in their children's education and school readiness.
  • Act as a liaison between families,providers, and program staff, fostering positive communication and collaboration.
  • Organize family events and workshops that promote early learning at home.
  • Assist in community events and recruitment efforts to maintain a child wait list and FCC Provider network.

Administrative & Operational Duties

  • Work closely with the Program Director and other coordinators to align educational services with FCCHEN program goals.
  • Ensure timely documentation and compliance with all program reporting requirements.
  • Participate in program planning and implementation activities to meet objectives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support program goals and operations.

QUALIFICATIONS& REQUIREMENTS:

Education & Certification

  • Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field.
  • Must possess a Child Development Teacher Permit (or higher) from the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC).

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in early childhood education, including curriculum development, classroom management, or family child care settings.
  • Strong knowledge of Family Child Care Environmental Rating Scale (FCCERS) and Desired Results Developmental Profile (DRDP).

Skills & Competencies

  • In-depth understanding of early child hood education practices, developmental milestones, and assessment techniques.
  • Strong communication (verbal &written), organizational, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to train, mentor, and coach adult learners.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with diverse client populations.
  • Ability to be flexible,innovative, and adapt to changing program needs.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Additional Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age to apply.
  • This position requires regular driving and frequent travel to home day care provider sites in  assigned counties. Must have access to a personal vehicle, possess a valid California driver’s license, maintain current automobile insurance, and have a good driving record. The ability to operate a company vehicle as needed is also required.
  • Ability to represent ŷַ skillfully and professionally.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse client populations.
  • Ability to be flexible,innovative, and adaptable to the changing needs of the program, department, and agency.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English)required.
  • Must have the flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed.
